Motivation:

There are many different theories about motivation but in NLP terms there are two main polar styles of motivating ourselves:

  1. There is the type of motivation that pulls you forwards because of something you really want. This is referred to as a ‘towards programme’. People at the ‘towards ‘end of this spectrum are pulled forward by the vision of a goal.
  2. And there is the type of motivation that drives you to do something in avoidance of discomfort. This is referred to as an ‘away from program’. People who operate from this end of the spectrum tend to worry about what will go wrong.

Both ends of this spectrum can be very useful but to be at either of the polar ends means that we don’t look at the bigger picture.
NLP can help change the language patterns of your internal dialogue and help you to focus instead on what can go well rather than focusing on what can go wrong.

Phobias & Anxiety

It is normal to feel fear and anxiety when presented with a real threat to life. A phobia however, is an irrational over reaction to something that may pose no real threat at all e.g bird, dogs, cotton wool, spiders the list is endless.

There are lots of different reasons as to how phobias develop and you may have no idea how it started or even remember when.

No matter whether it is flying, driving or a fear of heights, what matters is that you can get rid of the phobic response and start to live your life without fear.

Low Mood

Life events can cause our mood to change often decreasing our motivation, self esteem and self worth.
Hypnotherapy and NLP may help to get you back on track.
If, however, you think you have serious depression or a psychological disorder you should always discuss this with your doctor in the first instance.

Confidence and self esteem

Many people go through life with fragile self esteem that ebbs away easily at the slightest challenge and for others losing confidence and self esteem can be a crushing experience. It doesn’t have to stay that way.
Increasing self esteem and confidence helps in all sorts of situations whether at work, making presentations, public speaking, standing up for yourself and generally feeling good.
When your self esteem is good, your communications improve, the feedback from others is likely to be more positive too. This then feeds into yourself belief system, increasing your self-worth.
Using a combination of Hypnotherapy and some of the most powerful NLP techniques can help.

Behaviour change- Anger – Nail biting – Jealousy

Many of our negative behaviours are a kneejerk reactions to situations, often you wonder why you automatically react negatively to these things. The response can seem to come from nowhere.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)

IBS is very common in the UK with about twenty percent of the population likely to be affected at some stage in their lives. Only about ten percent of the adult population is diagnosed with IBS and of those that go to their family doctor with this condition, there are more women than men.

The symptoms of IBS include bloating, abdominal cramps, spasms, diarrhoea and constipation. Symptoms may affect people in different ways and can change very quickly from mild to severe.

The effectiveness of hypnotherapy as a treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome has been rigorously tested. One such study is the ‘Manchester Model’ developed by Professor Peter Whorwell of the NHS South Manchester.

Professor Whorwell (and others) 2002 study, concludes that the benefit of drugs for IBS is lost shortly after discontinuation of treatment…which is in sharp contrast to hypnotherapy where the symptomatic improvement is long-lasting.
Hypnotherapy is also included in the 2008 NICE [National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence] clinical guidelines, as an option for the management of IBS and particularly for individuals who have had the syndrome for over 12 months.
If you have been treated by your doctor for more than twelve months for IBS and your symptoms have not improved you may wish to seek the help of a hypnotherapist.

If you suspect that you have IBS you must always speak to your family doctor in the first instance as correct diagnoisis and treatment are essential. If you think hypnotherapy is something you would like to try you must ask for a letter of referral from your family doctor.

Weight Management – Hypnotic Gastric Band – Emotional Eating

There are many reasons why people are overweight.  It might be that messages from childhood to ‘clear the plate’ (even when not hungry) still remains into adulthood.
For others uncomfortable emotions drive some to seek comfort from foods such as chocolate and cake and others may prefer savoury snacks.
Years of being overweight can lead to a myriad of health problems and low self esteem.
Hypnotherapy & NLP have been used effectively for many years to help to change responses to emotions and regain control eating patterns.
Additionally, with the advent of a hypnotic gastric band using hypnotherapy we can now give client the impression that a real hypnotic band has been fitted. This gives the client the feeling of fullness and satisfaction.

If you suffer from Diabetes or any Thyroid problems aways speak to your doctor before requesting hypnotherapy.

If you have an eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia you should always speak to your doctor in the first instance.

Stress

Although a little bit of stress is important, e.g. it helps us get out of bed in the morning, too much is not good.
Too much stress accounts for so many of the physical and psychological problems people face today.
When a healthy strain becomes an unhealthy stress we begin to find it hard to think, to focus and often to do the things we once found easy.
Learn to turn stress into a positive force; you can use this energy for the good.

Smoking

Despite greater understanding over the years, smoking still continues to contribute to major ill health problems.
If you really want to quit, hypnotherapy may be for you.

Time for change understands that no two people are the same and that each problem or phobia can be as unique as the person that is experiencing these feelings.
